I’m Suzie Devey, an artist with a passion for printmaking based in North Yorkshire. My work is rooted in stories - the ones people tell me, the ones I stumble upon and the ones tucked away in places, objects and time. I listen closely, gather carefully and create work that retells and shares those stories. It’s a symbiotic process:.. the stories shape the work and the work gives the stories new life.

I work across installation, print and public art, often outside traditional gallery walls. Whether it’s a giant shell filled with imagined worlds, a railway waggon carved with the unheard voices of women, a pop-up print studio in a phone box, or the shortest of stories on road signs - I make art that invites people to be part of it. I want my work to instil curiosity, to feel like a conversation and to stir emotion.

Collaboration is at the heart of what I do. I work with communities, museums, libraries, and festivals to create pieces that reflect people and what matters to them. I’m interested in how art can help us see each other differently, whilst discovering similarities.
